Anything and everything that you do in your life, you have two options: defeat or discipline. There’s no other option. One of these options leads to success, while the other option leads to the lifestyle that most of us live. Let's face it, most of us are comfortable, lazy, and emotional beings. Typically we don’t end up this way because we want to. But it’s because we don’t choose better actions and behaviors for our life.
Defeat doesn’t always mean loss in the moment. Actually, many of our ‘defeats’ are because of weeks, months, and years of inconsistent or inaction on choosing the discipline path.
The ‘defeat’ may show up as lack of playing time, losing our starting position, not getting the stats or wins you’d like for yourself or your team. But it was you choosing the ‘defeat’ option long before the (lack of) results were ever shown.
It is your decision. It’s your decision if you do, it’s your decision if you don’t. To choose the discipline option you will be taking the path less traveled. Many don’t want to choose discipline.
To be great, discipline must be your only option. Brick by brick, day after day, the consistency of discipline will produce the results you’ve been dreaming of. Each and every day, on the court, and off. Discipline will be you deciding to put in the extra reps, you get there early, you stay late, or you're going to get into the weight room, you schedule out your day, you ask the coach for help, you call your trainer when you need it.
At the end of your basketball journey, either you're going to get defeated or you're going to choose discipline to find that next level.
The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
