3 Ways to Get Recruited (No One is Talking About)

As a basketball mental performance coach, I'm constantly inspired by the dedication and drive I see in my athletes of all types. Today, I want to talk about a crucial aspect of one’s journey: recruiting. It's not just about showcasing your skills on the court; it's about the mindset you bring to the game, both on and off the hardwood.

One of the most powerful tools in your arsenal?

  1. Proactivity. Instead of waiting for opportunities to come knocking, why not take charge of your destiny? Reach out to coaches, tap into your network, and put in the work others aren't willing to do.

Start by crafting a compelling email to coaches. Share your achievements, your passion for the game, and your desire to excel both academically and athletically. Don't be afraid to showcase your personality and let your authenticity shine through.

  1. Leverage your network. Might be the most important thing that I tell my athletes! Reach out to mentors, former teammates, and anyone else who can offer insights or connections. You never know who might have a connection to a coach or a program that's the perfect fit for you.

  2. Do the work. While others are lounging on the couch, you're hitting the gym, honing your skills, and perfecting your craft. Whether it's extra shooting drills, mental visualization exercises, or studying game tape, every ounce of effort you put in sets you apart from the competition.

Remember, recruiting is not a passive process—it's an active pursuit of your dreams. So lace up those sneakers, set your sights high, and let your proactive mindset propel you to success.

CHALLENGE: Be more proactive in your recruiting process. No one should be working harder for your dreams than you.
“OWN YOUR OUTCOME!
